Tomato Rice




Tomatoes are one of the most commonly used vegetables. The juicy and tangy taste of it relishes the whole dish with aromatic flavors and that when mixed with rice and spices gives mouth watering recipe ..isn't it? Lets see how to make this simple recipe ..

Ingredients:
  • Tomatoes : 3
  • Onion : 1
  • Boiled rice : 1 cup
  • Red chillies : 2
  • Ghee : 1 spoon
  • Mustard : 1 tspn
  • Jeera/cumin : 1 tspn
  • Urad dal : 2 tspn
  • Chana dal : 2 tspn
  • Cashew nuts : 6-7
  • Ginger : 1 tspn
  • Green chilli :1
  • Curry leaves : 10
  • Hinge(Asefoetida) : a pinch
  • Salt : as per taste
  • Chilli powder : 1 tspn
  • Garam masala : 1 tspn
  • Coriander leaves : few
Procedure:
  1. Heat ghee in a pan ,add pieces of red chilli ,mustard ,cumin ,urad dal , chana dal , hinge and cashew pieces and fry it till they turn golden brown.
  2. Add chopped ginger , onions , green chilli , curry leaves , salt and fry them till the onions become transparent.
  3. Add sliced tomatoes and cook covering with a lid till the tomatoes become tender.
  4. Add sufficient chilli powder  , garam masala . Add boiled rice and mix well till rice is properly mixed with tomato gravy.
  5. Cook for another 2 mins.
  6. Finally garnish with coriander leaves.
